Think of it as a database containing the mathematical definition of your model-its topology (trimmed surfaces, loops, edges, vertices, etc.).
I installed the recommended driver from as recommended by tech support and /u/rynadrk and finally turned off Software OpenGL.
I'd love to not have to do that! Any ideas on what could be causing this problem, or how to fix it? Solidworks literally was working perfectly when I shut off my computer last week, and this began as soon as I started it today.Įdit: Hardware is a Dell Precision T5500, Running Win7 圆4 with a Quadro FX 580Įdit 2: Fixed! Tech support had me run 'Solidworks RX' and it identified that my driver was somehow unrecognized. and ultimately had to wipe his entire hard drive and start from scratch to fix the issue. He was unable to re-enable Open GL (without re-creating the issue) after reinstalling Solidworks, reinstalling video drivers, etc. Unfortunately, software open GL is pretty slow.
After a lot of time with tech support, he discovered checking 'Use Software Open GL' in SW performance settings allowed him to create and open parts. The program starts as usual, and I see the menus, but if I try to create a new part, or open an existing part or assembly, an empty window opens and I get a spinning wheel until finally the program crashes.Ī co-worker had this identical problem happen 2 weeks ago. This morning when I booted up and launched Solidworks, I noticed it's no longer allowing me to open files.
